DATE: Wednesday, August 19, 1998 Place: The Caern ---- Recall start ---- You head northeast, on up the valley into the caern. Among the Steam Vents Contents: Mountain's-Peak Collin Finds-Trouble Jeff comes into the caern from the southwest. Murphy comes into the caern from the southwest. Finds-Trouble snorts. You never know. Mountain's-Peak flicks her ear's in a lupine shrug. She said something about him not saying thank-you, and that he complained. From the rock outcropping, a dark wolf lays upon her belly. Outwardly Walks-Far-Alone seems relaxed, her ears at an easy cant, her attention unfocused. By the waterfall, Seeker looks up as the Walkers make their entrance. He nods a greeting to them, then to Iceheart as well. Collin groans, shaking his head, "We better work to keep them from meeting in the future until, like, they both have a better handle on shit, you know? That's just bad." By the waterfall, Iceheart cants her ears forward at the Walkers, and licks her muzzle. This should be interesting. JJ Malone emerges from the treeline with obvious noise, in homid, a freshly lit cigarette glowing in the gathering dusk. He looks around the contents of the Caern visible through the mists, predominantly those nearby, then grunts. "Could be worse," he comments to no one in particular, a lingering look for the two in lupus and a passing glance at Colling as he heads at a slow meander to the center. Jeff follows Malone out of the woods, idly picking a leaf off his clean shirt and scowling ever so slightly. His nice shoes are now partially mud-covered which only adds to his annoyance. Murphy follows behind the Walker Elder at an easy pace. He is carrying a backpack slung over his shoulders. A pair of dark sunglasses rest on his nose. One could describe his mood as almost festive despite the seriousness of his tribemates. "Relax, more will come I'm sure." Mountain's-Peak snorts. I think he would have hurt her this time. If Once-Not-Enough was not so badly wounded. Mountain's-Peak gives the Glass-Walker's an odd look as they pass through, wrinkling her nose at the smelly cigarette in JJ's mouth. She looks back to Collin, a questioning angle to her ears. From the rock outcropping, Walks-Far-Alone turns her face towards the group of Walkers, the movement strangely feline in its laziness. Soon enough the lithe wolf's attention focuses on the three, her ears shifting forward and that air of restful sleepiness vanishing. Collin tells Mountain's Peak, quietly, "They're called 'Cancer Sticks' if you're wondering. They're bad for studs like me." He grins, then scritches Mountain's-Peak between the ears. Salem comes into the caern from the southwest. Salem arrives with JJ Malone and the other Glass Walkers. Really. By the waterfall, Seeker chuffs to JJ and studies the new person. Greetings, ~Shades~-yuf. A new member? Salem pushes his hands into the front pockets of his jeans, head lowered slightly as he scans the valley. He has the alert, tensely ill-at-ease manner of a lasped Catholic who isn't sure if he remembers which bits he's supposed to kneel for. JJ Malone gives Collin a sharp, unpleasent glance at his comment, even said under his breath like it was, but then finishes his journey to the center. He looks over in Seeker's direction, just noticing him through the gathering murk, catching only his own name. "Pardon me?" You head toward the center and heart of the Wheel. Center of the Caern By the steam vents, Murphy heads into the center. By the steam vents, Jeff heads into the center. By the steam vents, Collin is certainly trying hard to look completely innocent while JJ glances at him. He keeps scrithcing the Fury cub. By the waterfall, Seeker looks at Jeff. He is new, to me at least. I am Seeker, fostern ahroun of the Silent Striders. By the waterfall, Iceheart settles in to watch, her ears canted in the direction of the Walkers. From the rock outcropping, Walks-Far-Alone's gaze shift slowly from one Walker to the next, lingering on each but perhaps moving a bit quicker past those whose eyes are hidden by dark sunglasses than those whose she can see. Though she does not sit up, the shifting of her weight lends her an air of readiness, of further alertness. By the steam vents, Finds-Trouble watches the others intently from the side of Mountain's Peak which is farthest away from Collin. By the steam vents, Salem heads into the center. Murphy follows his elder into the center and then begins busying himself with the contents of the back-pack. Everyone present does get at least a slight nod along the way. "Thank you all for coming out tonight. I imagine that we will get things started in a few moments." From the pack comes first a large thermos followed by a sleeve of cups. "I took the liberty of bringing coffee for those interested." Then comes the final item, a smokeless ashtray which gets flicked on, as Murphy lights his own 'Cancer Stick.' Jeff blinks slowly a few times before he realizes Seeker is refering to him. "Oh. Yes, quite. I am Jeff Montgomery. Cliath, Glass Walker of the Middle Path." He then moves to stand beside the others, crossing his arms and waiting patiently, or at least trying to. By the steam vents, Finds-Trouble twitches her ears. Are they holding Moot tonight? Salem's steps remain light, prowling. The rage-cloaked Ahroun keeps close enough to the others to make it clear he's with them, but not so close that it looks like he's huddling. New moon or not, Salem's restless. By the steam vents, Mountain's-Peak seems to become more intrested in the small group, when she catches the words 'Glass Walker'. So, these are the ~garou~ that live in the scab. By the steam vents, Collin nods to Finds-Trouble, "Something like that." He glances back to Mountain's-Peak, then grins at her, "That's them. I wonder if Bailey's gonna be here." JJ Malone flashes Murphy a look that, for those who can see his expression in the mist, is clearly irritated, but then he speaks up. "Whether or not you're here because you caught word we were planning on coming out, or not, we *have* come out. We're here to let you know what we've been up to, and get your feedback on things about the city that might be concerning you that we should know about to look into. For those of you who don't know, my name's Malone. J.J. Malone. Fostern. Glass Walker. Ahroun. Metis." His mirrored-gaze sweeps around in a 360 as he recites his introduction, especially attentive at the last word. By the steam vents, Finds-Trouble wrinkles her nose. They certainly smell of the scab. By the waterfall, Seeker nods to Jeff, then nods to JJ. Indeed. A rare occasion to see your tribe here. What news do you have? By the steam vents, Collin grins at Mountain's-Peak, then says, "I better get closer and hear what's up, actually." From the rock outcropping, the dark wolf's ears settle backwards at some pre-metis point of JJ's introduction. Walks-Far-Alone sits up, watching, her ears retaining that tilt and giving her a less-than-pleased look. By the steam vents, Finds-Trouble stretches. Am not sure I want to know. By the steam vents, Mountain's-Peak also, wrinkles up her nose. Is that what it smells like? Strange. When Collin sugests moving to the center, she jumps to her feet. Obviously eager to join him. By the steam vents, Collin wags a finger at Finds-Trouble jokingly, "There's nothing wrong with being updated." He grins over at her and heads down towards the center with the Fury Cub. By the steam vents, Collin heads into the center. By the steam vents, Mountain's-Peak heads into the center. By the steam vents, Finds-Trouble heads into the center. Finds-Trouble follows her tribemate. Did not say there was anything wrong with it. Murphy pours himself a cup of the coffee and then leaves the thermos out for easy access by any others who might be interested. "For those of you who I have not had the pleasure of meeting, I'm John Murphy, obviously of the Glass Walkers. I'm also Cliath and Gibbous Moon. We'ed like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves to some of the Sept members who don't get into the City much and try to catch up those interested on news from there." JJ Malone looks over at the three who came with him, now, promptingly, watching as everyone draws closer. Collin grins at Finds-Trouble, "But you did say you weren't sure. That would make a guy think that you thought there was something worng with it." He stretches out, "Of course, being perfect, I don't have these problems." He pauses, then gets quiet as Murphy talks. "Jack Salem." This from the saturnine, bearded man in black. His chin lifts slightly, a flash of Shadow Lord arrogance snapping out from dark eyes, the purity of his breeding quite plain. "Cliath. Ahroun. Glass Walkers." "As I said earlier," Jeff states, half raising his hand, "I am Jeff Montgomery. New to this Sept. Cliath, Glass Walker and of the Half Moon." Mountain's-Peak seems content to stay near Collin and Finds-Trouble, for the moment. JJ Malone flashes another pointed look underpinned by palpable irritation at Murphy's words as he drops to a foot-balancing crouch where he was standing, an anger which barely touches his next words. Answering Seeker, he says, "I'll let Murphy deal with that." Finds-Trouble snorts at Collin. Not being certain I want to know is not the same as doubting the value of knowledge. With all these introductions going on, Mountain's-Peak feels obliged to give her own. Mountain's-Peak, also known as ~Renee~. Black Fury, no-moon, cub. Murphy takes a drag off his smoke and then gives a slight bow of respect to both his elder and to Seeker before he responds. "As some of you know, our business for the Sept does not let us travel out here as often as we might like to. Consequently, news of our doings also fails to travel as readily as we might desire. Therefore, Malone-rhya hit upon the idea of coming out to visit on a night when things in the City allowed us to step away for a few hours. So we are here." Finds-Trouble keeps an eye on the Shadow Lord who says he is a Glass Walker as she listens to the others. Salem's hands remain in his pockets as he stalks to someplace upwind of Murphy's cigarette smoke. His expression remains tight and forbidding, emotions locked away behind hawkish features. Jeff slides a 'cancer stick' out of the packet in his pocket. There's the flicking of a lighter as he turns away from the main gathering of garou to light up. When he turns back, he's already taken a drag and looks back to Murphy. By the waterfall, Iceheart flicks an ear. A good idea, indeed. Even my pack hears far too little of what goes on in the actual city area. From the rock outcropping, Walks-Far-Alone rises to her paws and meanders down towards the center. Cat-like, she walks that way but with an I'm-coming-but-it's-not-because-of-you air. Once down the path from the slab, she picks a position away from the others, remaining aloof even though the physical distance is now less. From the rock outcropping, Walks-Far-Alone heads into the center. Murphy continues after a pause to allow his words to sink in fully. "Our first business is announce the new addition to our tribe. Let it be known by all that Jack Salem has been welcomed into our tribe and is now a son of Roach." Collin glances at Salem, then grins and wiggles hsi figners at him before he looks back to Murphy. Salem's lips twitch into a thin, a very thin, smile. Mountain's-Peak moves towards Walks-Far-Alone's position, tail wagging. Walks-Far-Alone's manner warms as the cub approaches. She wuffs a hello and steps to meet her, giving the Fury a rough nuzzle. Had you known about this? She indicates the group from the city with a flicking of her ear. Finds-Trouble does not follow her tribemate. Mountain's-Peak grins, happily returning Kasie's nuzzle. Before sitting down on her haunches. No, I just saw them show up here. Walks-Far-Alone snorts amusement as she sits down next to 'her' cub. Quietly, though with no real effort in keeping it from being overheard, she comments, They'll let anyone into the caern these days. Salem catches Walks' remark, and his eyes narrow as he studies the gaunt young lupus thoughtfully. Collin glances over at Walks-Far-Alone ad then settles in comfortably on the ground. He grins towards the Walkers. Jeff glances to Walks, brows lifting in a little and he shakes his head, as a father would to a silly child. Kicking a rock a few inches, he turns his attention back to the current speaker. Finds-Trouble is busily watching Salem, so she doesn't catch Walks's remark. JJ Malone, with his attention roaming to watch the listeners, catches Walks's comment and speaks up, and with voice lowered, mindful of Murphy, he says, "We have just as much right to be here as you do. Unless you're wanting to make an issue of it..." he trails off pointedly, not looking away from the young wolf either. By the waterfall, Iceheart licks her muzzle once more, and stands up. Indeed they do, Walks-Far-Alone. Murphy clears his throat slightly and takes a small sip from his cup. "We welcome Salem into our tribe because of his assistance in a matter of importance to all the Sept. As many of you know, a great bane has recently escaped from captivity and threatened all Garou, both Woods and City dwellers alike. While Ourborus strove to find the key to dealing with that Bane, it fell to us, the Scab-dwellers," at this his eyes stop on Walks before he continues, "to investigate other connections. And so Malone lead our tribe, Nigel McAllister, Lisa Wilson, known as Bullet-To-The-Knees, Jayson Carr, called Weaver's Smile, Jack Salem, Jeff Montgomery, and myself. Together we invaded the Sancturary of Ashley Turner, Vampire, and found evidence of her involvement and manipulation of this threat." At JJ's words, Salem smiles again, just a little, lips parting just a hint to give a glimpse of teeth, not quite a snarl, but half a step away from it. One might imagine that he wouldn't mind at all if Walks made an issue of it. Collin's eyes narrow a little at the mentioning of the Vampire. He sits up a little straighter and nods, his attention rather grabbed. Finds-Trouble shudders slightly at the mention of the vampire. Vampires. Ick. Mountain's-Peak sits quietly, listening. Her ears do perk up, at the mention of the Vampire though. By the waterfall, Seeker snarls at the mention of the vampire. This leech is allied with Consumer-of-Stone? Walks-Far-Alone turns from the Fury cub back to the rest, catching most if not all of the reactions; she responds only to JJ's. Her eyes at some point over the metis' shoulder, she lowers her ears just enough for the change to be visible. Of course you do. The Guardians would not have let you get this far otherwise. Murphy nods darkly as the connection is made by Seeker. "Yes, she is. She and her agents seek to control the Consumer. Baring that, they seek partnership with it. We cannot be certain how successful she has been, but she has had decades to prepare for this. We must assume the news will be bad." JJ Malone's manner changes little except for the addition of a thin, sardonic smile that is not entirely pleasent. "Then please, praytell, remember that. Next time I hear you insulting my tribe in front of me, I'll take it as a challenge. On my terms." Collin grimaces, "Aw, shit." He glances over at Walks-Far-Alone, then back to JJ. He takes a deep breath and lets it out really slow-like. By the steam vents, Piotr hobbles in, leg squeaking a little- the WD40 must've run out. Oh, well. Jeff dismisses the conversation with the Don and the Fianna for a moment, much more intent on Murphy's words. It seems, at the moment, he has nothing to add. Salem takes his hands out of his pockets and cracks his knuckles, slowly. His head, tilted, keeps note of what's going on with the meeting, but it's clear that Walks-Far-Alone has definitely attracted Salem's attention. He's made note of her. Not that he'll do anything about it just yet. Mountain's-Peak remains silent. Her form indicating more then a little nervousness. Collin keeps his hand on Mountain's-Peak ruff, scritching her gently still. He stays quiet for a change. By the waterfall, Seeker is fixated on the mention of vampires. What of the other leeches? Have they been seen since the last attack? By the steam vents, Piotr spots some familiar people, and starts squeaking in their direction. By the steam vents, Piotr heads into the center. What timing. Walks-Far-Alone looks towards the noise of Piotr's arrival, the seemingly total shifting of her attention away from JJ might appear dismissive ...except that she's tenser now than she had been before. Of course. Her response is in the same tone as her posture now (unsurprisingly, seeing that the lupus language is spoken mostly through body language...); on the surface it seems the Fianna's interest lies elsethere. Collin glances up at Piotr, then waves him over with a small grin on his face. Mountain's-Peak grins, as Piotr 'squeaks' in. Giving the him a chearful whuff, hello. Murphy chuckles slightly at Seeker's question. "Oh yes, the other leeches. Three weeks ago, myself, Nigel of my tribe, and Brigid of the Silver Fangs were ambushed by a pack of them. Since we were only outnumbered two to one we were quite victorious." He yanks off his sunglasses and the pride flashes in his eyes. If anyone had any doubts that Murphy was Garou his posture and bearing crush them. "I myself tore out the throats of two of their number with my teeth." Piotr smiles faintly at Collin and whufs at Mountain's Peak, despite being in homid form. He hobbles in and settles down on the ground nearby. Collin grins over at Murphy a little too at that story, nodding, "Cool, dude. But how much do you guys know about this 'alliance' they're trying for, anyways?" Finds-Trouble glances away from Salem to observe Piotr, apparently trying to recall if she knows the squeaky one. JJ Malone's own manner eases a few degrees as Walks-Far-Alone looks away, displaying a grasp of subtlety out of keeping with what's generally know about his tribe. Collin's question also helps in grabbing his attention, the line of his jaw going taut. "Alliance?" Salem's gaze passes over Piotr, eyes shifting downward to study the prosthesis. His face has smoothed itself back into neutrality. Moments later, his attention is more fully back on Murphy. By the waterfall, Seeker looks at Collin, then at JJ. You mentioned that a leech was influencing a bane. Collin nods, "Yeah. That. That's what I'm talking about." Murphy glances over towards Collin. "Do you refer to the Sabbat? Since that attack, they attempted to strike back by attacking our cubs, but we were able to recover them. Since then they have gone into hiding, obviously licking their wounds. And there is no connection so far between the ones in St. Claire and Turner." Collin nods, "Well, that's good to hear." He runs a hand through his hair and then sits back on his heels. By the waterfall, Seeker nods. What else do we know about these Sabbat? Murphy shakes his head. "Besides the fact that they have many of the breeds of leech in their camp? Not much. As I said, they have chosen hiding to activity currently. We have a lead however that we will seek to exploit one way or another in the coming weeks. It just remains to be seen yet how to best utelize it." Collin says, "Hey, that's cool. What is it?" Piotr scratches at his leg silently. He knows some of them are looking at him,b ut others are speaking. Why be rude? Murphy takes a drag off his smoke, the cherry glowing in the twilight. "We're hunting one of them who thinks it's hunting us." Collin laughs, "Turnabout, huh?" By the waterfall, Iceheart shakes her ruff, attention riveted on the Walkers. By the waterfall, Seeker chuffs disgustedly at the thought of a leech trying to hunt a garou. I would like to help. My pack and I can spread news between the city and the woods. Finds-Trouble snaps at a passing fly. My cousin was hunted by a leech. Jeff stays quiet. He exhales a cloud of thin, grey smoke as the other Walker speaks. Walks-Far-Alone returns her attention to the main conversation, listening in a vague sort of way. "They're not doing a good job," J.J. says bluntly to Seeker's words. "I, for one, had no idea that Consumer of Stone had parked out here on the *bawn* until two weeks ago. If you're going to pass word, then it needs to go both ways." Collin nods, standing up straighter, "If there's anything I can do, hey, I'm up for it." He grins over at Pior, then asks him, "Seen Sassafras anywhere?" Piotr shakes his head. "Not lately, no." Collin damns, "We need to have a get together soon and chat some things over." He turns and looks back towards the Walkers. Piotr nods. By the waterfall, Seeker nods. Understood. My packmate, Reggie, is in the scab often. I can pass word to him, and from him to you. Murphy slugs back the last of his coffee. "We could all benefit from more open lines of communication. If anyone wishes to send word or seek the help of those who dwell in the city, I would like to spread the word that I would be happy to act as ambassador, for want of a better word. With all due respect, few come to us ever and I would hope that this could change." By the waterfall, Seeker glances at Collin, then back to JJ. Chaser-yuf has announced plans to hunt the leeches in the city. Are you hunting with her? Collin says, "I'm in the city often enough, but only one of you I have a way of talking to is Bailey, and I can't always get ahold of him that easily, or anyone else in Cavall for that matter." he makes a face, "Anwyays, if you wanna give me a phone number, it's cool." JJ Malone chain lights a fresh cigarette with his first, then looks around those gathered. "She hasn't bothered to ask, and from what I overheard, she has no intention to." He speaks calmly but there is a razor-edge underlying his words at the obvious slight. His look goes to Collin at his words. "All you had to do was ask. I can give you my pager number after we're done. So, does anyone have any other concerns about the city they'd like to bring up? Nothing too silly." Mountain's-Peak seems to become a bit confused, turning her attention to Walks. ~Phone Number?~ Collin nods to JJ, "Yeah, but I haven't run into any of you guys that often and didn't think of it at the time. But that's just a excuse. I may be omniscient, omnipotent and perfect, but even *I* can make mistakes." he winks jokingly, then nods to Mountain's-Peak, "A human invention to talk to someone who's far way and stuff, Renee." Walks-Far-Alone leans closer to the cub to answer. Ape-thing. The lupe pauses, seeking the right wording to explain it. Used to talk to another from very far away. By the steam vents, Jayson comes into the caern from the southwest. Mountain's-Peak blinks, trying to understand the concept. Like howling? Salem hooks his thumbs into the front pockets of his jeans and remains silent, as though he'd used up all his allotment of words when he gave his introduction earlier. Collin nods to Mountain's-Peak, "Sorta, but not quite." he grins. Walks-Far-Alone makes a dissatisfied noise. Like it, but not. Quieter, but carries further than a howl. The lupe snaps her jaws once, summing it up with another: It's an ape-thing. Murphy takes a final drag off his smoke and taps it out in the ashtray he brought with him. "We Walkers go to some lengths to be respectful of other's territory when we go out to the woods. All we ask is that others return the favor. If we behaved like some do when they come into the city there would be a lot more fights going on." By the steam vents, Jayson comes out of the forest by the steam vents, pausing long enough to pull some twigs or somesuch out of the collar of his shirt. He brushes off his front, then wanders through the steamvents towards the center. He pauses mid-journey to bend over and examine one of the vents, pulling out a small notebook and jotting something down before making it to the center. By the steam vents, Jayson heads into the center. By the waterfall, Brian comes down the trail from the rim above. By the waterfall, Seeker nods to the Alpha. Finds-Trouble glances at Jayson as he comes in, taking note of the notebook. Mountain's-Peak drops the subject, returning her attention to the Glass walkers. She looks up, examining Jayson as he aproches. Jeff has partially disconnected. By the waterfall, Brian appears at the top of the south rim of the valley, staring down into the caern for a moment before descending the non-trail alongside the falls. Somewhat drenched by the time he reaches the valley floor, he offers Seeker a polite wave in answer as he surveys the place. Piotr adjusts his seating. The wet ground's soaking through... oh, well, not like he hasn't had mud all over these pants before. Walks-Far-Alone, sitting next to Mountain's-Peak, idly listens to the Walkers. The four from the city seem not to have her full attention, however; the wolf lets her ears tilt this way and that, tracking small sounds and anything of interest. Finds-Trouble is sitting nearer to the steam vents than to the center of the caern, listening to the Glass Walkers and keeping at least some of her attention on the Shadow Lord who claims to be a Glass Walker. JJ Malone looks around again, the traveling gaze pausing on Brian, but he clears his throat and speaks up again anyway. "No one has any concerns about the city? With all of you from out here who go in there all the time to fight and track down every bump in the night?" he asks, words taking on a faintly taunting tone along with disbelief. As Jayson approaches, he gives the theurge a nod and pushes to his feet. Walks-Far-Alone's eyes go to the metis Walker and for a moment it looks like the lupe might respond. With a tilting back of her ears, she bites back her words at the last moment. By the waterfall, A small smile spreads across Brian's lips, and he seems to take JJ's verbal joust as a challenge when he calls back, "My concern is that we have to go into the city all the time to fight and track down every bump in the night." Murphy gives the Righ a respectful nod before turning his attention to the approaching Jayson. "Nice timing, you managed to get here just in time to not have to say anything." Jeff keeps his spot behind the other Walkers. His face shows some disappointment at the lack of questions,b ut he simply shrugs lightly and looks back to JJ. Salem shifts his stance subtly. His gaze turns from studying the massive rock at the center of the caern to follow JJ's gaze toward Brian. His brow furrows with a visible game of 'place the face' with himself. Collin says, "I've got a question, actually." he grins. By the waterfall, Iceheart lounges quietly by the pool, closer to the center than the pool. She stands up as Brian hoves into view, and chuffs him a greeting. Fare you well this evening, Ecca? Jayson enters the center, returning the nod of his tribal elder, and offering a short 'Heya' to Walks as he strides by. He doesn't bother sitting in the mud, taking his usual spot a few steps away from JJ. "Well, I'd rather be on time to say nothing than early to say something", he says to Murphy with a grin. "The city is full of bumps," J.J. counters Brian smoothly, turning the return of challenge into a serious question. "But more mountains are made out of molehills, and when they are mountains, the Glass Walkers are ignored. Something I think would do you well to rectify, sir, since it means you're not using your assets to the fullest advantage." He continues to look at Brian through the mist, although he seems aware of Collin's waiting. Walks-Far-Alone, following the others' looks, notices Brian. Her head and ears lower to him, then she looks back as she's greeted by the newest arriving Walker. The wolf snorts softly, not quite a wuff of greeting but not a totally distainful noise, either. Collin stays out of that, waiting for JJ and Brian to have their talk. He glances over at Piotr and leans over to whisper something to him lowly. Piotr tilts his head a little, listening. Murphy lights up another cigarette while he quietly observes the exchange between Sept and Tribal elders. Piotr nods soberly, and whispers back. By the waterfall, Brian rolls his shoulders in a fluid shrug. "That's the first time I've head the Glass Walkers referred to as one of my assets," he remarks, now absently inspecting the fingernails of his left hand as he offers a vague smile towards Iceheart. "But Lord knows I wouldn't want you to be ignored, JJ." His tone keeps the same quasi-mocking quality, matching JJ's earlier mein. Mountain's-Peak has connected. Collin grins at Piotr, nodding to him. He covers his mouth, then murmurs to him again. JJ Malone's chin comes up suddenly with stubborn pride. "Unless you're kicking us out of this Sept, sir." Piotr blinks at that a moment; then his expression clears, and he nods to Collin, murmuring again. Salem's frown tightens, as does the set of his shoulders. With a light, almost casual step, the dark Ahroun positions himself just behind and to one side of his new tribe's elder. Finds-Trouble shifts uncertainly at the open tension between the Walkers and the Alpha. Walks-Far-Alone watches this interplay with an interest sharper than any she has shown since the Walkers arrived. Murphy also moves to stand behind Malone now, the solidarity of the Glass Walker tribe blatantly obvious. By the waterfall, Seeker listens to the elders' repartee, silently seething at something unrelated to their conversation. He stares at the waterfall. Jeff crosses his arms, jaw tightening. He, and apparently the rest of the Walkers, now stand behind the Don. Collin tries to stifle a little laugh at something Piotr tells him, then nods to him and continues his whispred conversation, glancing towards Brian and JJ on a fairly regular basis. By the waterfall, Iceheart wags her tail slowly at the interplay between the Alpha and the Walker Elder. Piotr watches the line-up, and absently whispers just one thing more. Collin nods to Piotr, "Yep." Finds-Trouble begins edging slowly around the group at the center, keeping her distance from the Glass Walkers as she makes her way towards the waterfall. By the waterfall, Brian draws a breath before letting it out in a quiet chuckle. "No, no. I'd need a reason to do that, and you haven't given me one." There's an unspoken 'yet, surprisingly' at the end of his sentence. He lets his gaze stray to the fingernails of his right hand before saying more. "Still. With the decent job that Edge and Untouchables have been doing for us, I guess I just don't see the point of pandering to any delusions of grandeur by taking my every urban problem to the Glass Walkers." Walks-Far-Alone nudges the cub at her side, then rises. Though she hadn't been sitting close to the Walkers before, she now repositions herself closer to the waterfall, facing the four from the city before sitting back down. Mountain's-Peak gets up, and passivly follows behind Walks. Salem's rage coils about him like a rabid Rottweiler on a rusting chain leash, flickering in the Ahroun's eyes despite the lack of moon. He clamps down on it, ruthlessly and studies the Sept's Alpha with narrowed eyes and a grim set to his mouth. JJ Malone catches a sneer in the making, reining in his initial reaction quickly. His voice is pitched to carry. "Well and good. But they're street packs. If all you care about is the area around Harbor Park. And then there's Cavall if you're trying to save the poor. There's more to the city than that. We came out here to remind people of that, and that we're here. Unlike Untouchables and Edge, we were born and bred to work in the city. And, have they managed to find the key to Consumer of Stone?" Murphy finally speaks up at this. "With all due respect to you sir, we're not claiming that every urban problem should be brought to us for dealing with. We're just asking that we're treated with the same level of respect that everyone else receives in their territory. We came tonight to try and increase communication." Jeff seems calm, the total opposite of the large Ahroun who he stands beside. He looks over at Salem a minute, face expressionless, then turns back to JJ, nodding once to his words. Collin just stays out of it at this point, shaking his head a bit. Jayson seems content to let JJ deal with the Fianna Alpha, taking a few steps over to Murphy and leaning in to whisper something to him. Collin is whispering too! But he's doing it with Piotr. Piotr nods thoughtfully before making a near inaudible reply. By the waterfall, Seeker snaps out of his reverie again at the mention of Consumer of Stone. Walks-Far-Alone joins in the whispering, leaning in to the fury cub and using the mother's tongue to allow her message to remain between them. Her eyes to not leave the Walkers, though. Collin nods to Piotr, "Sure, in a bit. I wanna see if they'll actually get to my question." he grins over at Piotr. Murphy nods slowly at Jayson's words before whispering back. Finds-Trouble crouches warily at the edge of the pool, keeping her eyes on the dark ahroun. Mountain's-Peak leans closer to the other wolf. So that she may hear the message clearly. Ears lay back slightly at the message, but she does chuff agreement. Collin glances over at Mountain's-Peak, then looks back to the Walkers and their doings. Jayson has partially disconnected. By the waterfall, "I wasn't aware he was locked," Brian quips, flicking a speck of dirt away from his hand. He seizes on something among Murphy's remarks, and replies, "With all due respect to you, son, the city hasn't been, isn't, and won't be your tribe's 'territory'. Territory isn't defined by which trees you piss on; it's defined by what you can hold, and so far I've seen about jack and shit from your tribe to indicate that you could hold your dick in your hand without dropping it, much less fight the Wyrm off a couple of downtown blocks. If you want to increase communication, that's fine, but your tribe's got a knack for using that as an excuse to get the lowdown on every little thing going on in town, as if it's your playground, as if you're the only Garou who've got a clue about the city, as if you're the only ones who've got a prayer of understanding its problems. Arjun Fletcher, being a Glass Walker himself, indulged that kind of high-handed self-important wankery. Not me; if you want to get your dick sucked, you'd better be prepared to pay for it, and show me that you're worth what trust I place in you. So far, all you've done is shown up in the woods and puffed your chest, and talked down to your betters -- some of who've been fighting to keep St. Claire safe since a long time before any of you'd ever show up here." Piotr scratches absently at the back of his leg, casting a glance up at Collin. Finds-Trouble flattens herself against the ground, as if to better let Brian's vitriol fly over her to the Glass Walkers. Walks-Far-Alone's hackles lift and fall in a wave, silent backing to the Alpha's words. Mountain's-Peak rises up, her paws shifting nervously. By the waterfall, Seeker flicks an ear irritably, then settles back down to wait until the chest-thumping ends and real business can be discussed. JJ Malone gives Murphy a quick, silencing glance, then looks back at Brian. "Fine, sir. I'm sorry you feel that way." With great deliberation, he tilts his head to the side, showing the Fianna throat. There's nothing false about his manner while doing it. Collin pauses, then looks at Piotr again. Jayson smiles slightly at JJ's response, obviously agreeing with the Elder's choice not to push the issue with the Alpha here in public. He keeps a weary eye on Salem and Murphy, but seems to be a little more at ease with the situation. Salem retains control over his anger, gripping it in an iron fist, squeezing it back into a diamond if rage. And, like the Henry Rollins song goes, there are diamonds in his eyes. He inhales a hissing breath through his teeth and then fixes his gaze very firmly on the ground. Piotr creaks slowly to his feet- not ominously, mind you. Just looks like someone's tired of a wet butt. Jeff slowly seems to be getting annoyed at the conversation, though his expression is still light compared to Salem's. Finds-Trouble does not relax one bit, noting the dark ahroun's posture. Collin looks towards Mountain's-Peak. He gestures for her to come over to him if he can. Though this was not her fight, Walks-Far-Alone looks almost smug as she watches the reactions. Then she's stepping in closer to the Fury cub, reassuring her silently. Murphy clamps his mouth tight, though his mood shows he doesn't have to like it. He finds a spot somewhere on the ground to concentrate on, the rage coming off him in waves. Mountain's-Peak seems torn, glancing between Walks and Collin. Walks-Far-Alone notices the cub's indecision and takes a single step away, placing herself alone once more. Go ahead, her action says quietly. Collin looks at Walks-Far, then gives her a nod with a grin, mouthing, "Thanks." to her. The disicion made for her, Mountain's-Peak joins Collin. By the waterfall, Brian seems considerably mollified by JJ's gesture of submission; of a sudden, a broad smile springs to his lips, and what little tension had crept into his demeanor before evaporates in one of the quicksilver mood swings typical of his tribe. "Rumor has it that one of the leeches that escaped the Great Hunt is still floating around out in the city. He needs to be located. Rumor also has it that one of the hospital's surgeons left suddenly a few months ago, right around the time when we were planning another big attack. It would be nice to know whether that was just a coincidence, and what the present situation around the hospital is, since Cavall seems to have dropped the ball trying to scout and perform some upkeep. It would be nice to see if the hospital's problems could be partially solved through some normal intervention -- maybe if they had a larger budget for counselors and programs, or if there were some non-profit charity that worked to keep patients' spirits up, and to keep them from sliding into the despair that makes them easy victims for the enemy. It will make life much simpler when the time comes to try to chip away at some more of the Wyrm's influence." Walks-Far-Alone does not acknowledge the thanks, though she does notice it. Instead of a rude action, it seems more like the lupe does not feel the action required a thank you. Collin reaches down and scritches Mountain's-Peak, grinning at her. He looks up at Brian as he talks to JJ, then blinks a few times. He doesn't say anything, but just listens yet. Piotr tilts his head silently, listening. By the waterfall, Heart-of-Fury comes down the trail from the rim above. By the waterfall, Seeker looks up at Brian's speech. As I told ~Shades~-yuf, my pack, Rise of Mercury, can offer its services to pass news from the city to the woods. We can also scout if need be. JJ Malone's posture still radiates submissiveness, something completely alien to the other Glass Walkers, at least. He drops his chin now that throat has been shown, and it's clear from how he holds his head that even behind the sunglasses he doesn't quite meet Brian's eyes as he looks across the clearing to the waterfall. "We'll start looking into it immediately, sir. Anything else?" By the waterfall, Heart-of-Fury slides down the trail from the lip of the valley above. By the waterfall, Iceheart stands up and shakes herself slightly, then begins to trot up the trail and out of the caern. Sbe gives a greeting chuff to Heart-of-Fury as she passes. Walks-Far-Alone stands alone, Brian and the Fang elder behind and to her left as she faces the four Walkers in the caern's center. Her eyes are fixed on the city Garou, there's an air of self-satisfaction about the Fianna. By the waterfall, Heart-of-Fury's ears flicker toward Iceheart and he glances up toward Brian before he moves closer toward the Alpha. He then looks out across the caern at the throng in the center. By the waterfall, Iceheart starts along the trail up to the rim of the valley. Piotr almost seems to pout faintly as he whispers something to Collin. Salem shifts his weight, moving it from the balls of his feet back to his heels. The rage remains controlled, consciously so. His eyes lift from the ground and pass over the area, pausing once more on Walks-Far-Alone. Collin scratches at Mountain's Peak while he tells something to Piotr, then he looks down to the Fury Cub, "I was wondering. When we're done here, would you like to come with me afterwards? Got some stuff we can talk about." Collin nods to Piotr, a sad expression on his face, "I'm sorry, man. You'll just have to wait on that one." Jeff slowly blinks, listening to the elders speak. He scans the crowd, eyes coming to rest on the Fianna lupe as well, though now, he's almost scowling. Mountain's-Peak turns her head to one side, curious. Sure. By the waterfall, Brian slides his hands into the pockets of his jeans, and shrugs his shoulders again. "I'd like to hear what you know about the Consumer, some time," he says. "Sooner is more preferable than later. I expect you to keep me in the loop about the leech situation in the city in general, but as for this escapee, he's your tribe's. If anyone else interferes, they'll answer to me." After a brief pause, he adds, "I'll also make a point of keeping you in mind when urban problems requiring a bit of subtlety come up. Take care with my benefit of the doubt." As her eyes sweep over the Walkers once more, Walks-Far-Alone catches Salem's direct look. Her own stop there. The wave of the evening's emotions behind her, she holds his eyes with hers, posture straightening and tail upping a notch. Piotr sighs, shrugging, and nods. "These things happen," he says aloud. JJ Malone gives Murphy a glance, then tilts his head Brian-wards. "John, go fill him in," he says, then louder once more and back to Brian. "Chaser's already claimed the escapee, sir. She announced it at moot. But, we'd appreciate the consideration otherwise." By the waterfall, Seeker glances at Brian as he restricts the hunting of a leech to the Glass Walkers, bu says nothing. Collin nods to Piotr, "Sad, but true, dude." He then grins at Mountain's-Peak and says, "Cool, cool." Finds-Trouble, watching the dark ahroun, follows his gaze to the feral Fianna. Mountain's-Peak notices Walks-Far-Alone's posture, and becomes seriously worried. Salem smiles faintly. His focus narrows on Walks-Far, and he even moves a half-step in her direction, hands unhooking from his pockets, his gaze remaining steady on hers. By the waterfall, Brian's lips twist in a small frown at that. "I must've slept through Chaser's announcement," he mutters. "Lord knows she's a boring enough speaker." Finds-Trouble adds 2 and 2 and comes up with 4 and looks at Mountain's Peak. She rises slightly and tries to catch her fellow Fury's attention. Jayson watches the interplay of Elder and Alpha silently, though as the Alpha starts to vocalize requests, he pulls his notebook out and jots down a few notes. By the waterfall, Heart-of-Fury snorts amusedly. Jeff looks between the two in the 'stare-out-for-dominance'. He gets a light smile before he looks back to the elder Walker. Collin glances towards Salem and Walks-Far, then rubs his eyes and shakes his head with a little grin on his face before he looks back down to Mountain's Peak. He gives her another pat, this time trying to be more reassuring. By the waterfall, Seeker heads into the center. Seeker looks at Murphy. Tell me of this leech you hunt that thinks it hunts you. JJ Malone may have missed Brian's mutter, because he continues to stand with subdued posture, waiting for further orders or to be dismissed. Mountain's-Peak turns an ear, in Finds-Trouble's direction. Her gaze remaining on Walks and Salem. Murphy narrows his eyes slightly. "I'm afraid I cannot as of yet. It is terribly complicated due to some added facts I cannot discuss as of yet. Please forgive me." By the waterfall, Brian turns away from the Glass Walkers, focusing his attention on Heart-of-Fury. "I really hate it when you miss our parties, you know," he declares loudly. Finds-Trouble snorts faintly at Murphy's comment. Towards Mountain's Peak, remember what you told the cub. Though she does not take a step closer herself, the lupine Fianna stands taller, her hackles lifting to givg an illusion of greater mass to the thinnish wolf. Walks-Far-Alone's eyes narrow, her head angled up to enable her to hold the tall homid's stare. First one ear then the other flicks with the effort of holding them so stiffly upright, though. By the waterfall, Heart-of-Fury's tongue hangs out. His ears droop apologetically. Sorry Righ. There was an important hunt in the scab. A she-wolf to tame. His expression turns to a rather homid-like wolfish smile. Mountain's-Peak continues to ignore Finds-Trouble. Her complete attention, already being held. Seeker seems disappointed, but nods. To the other Glass Walkers in general, he says, Is there any other news I should be aware of about the leeches, to pass on to others? Salem begins walking toward Kasie with slow, measured steps, holding his eyes to hers with an arrogance born of a noble bloodline and the stubbornness born of an iron will. The rage snaps and snarls under his flesh, almost daring the thin Fianna to take her bravado a step further, but the Ahroun does not show his teeth. He retains that faint, thin smile. By the waterfall, Brian shakes his head with faint disapproval. "Come on, Steven. We could've gotten you laid out here. Hell, even I got laid. Duncan too, I think." Finds-Trouble continues to watch Mountain's Peak more than the actual participants in the staredown. By the waterfall, Heart-of-Fury whurfs. The Bright Ones? By the waterfall, Brian shakes his head emphatically. "Nope, real human beings. Even the Ice Princess spread her legs, I understand." Piotr's expression tightens almost imperceptibly, face wrinkling up just the slightest bit, then forcibly relaxing. By the waterfall, Shock transcends Heart-of-Fury's posture. Not Sterling. JJ Malone, seeing that Brian is occupied by his packmate, turns to face Seeker. "I'm sure someone'll pass on news about the other one soon as we can, just like with the leech Turner." He casts a sidelong look at Murphy at that, but then looks back to Seeker. "None so far. Except to remind people not to go off half-cocked about them." A significant pause, then, "There's a couple of us who've lived through the Blood Wars, too. Rik especially, he was a Fostern during it. People might want to go talk to him if they're looking for tactics or anything. Collin glances at JJ, nodding his head once, but most of *his* attention is resting on Mountain's-Peak right now. He just seems to be keeping an eye on her. Walks-Far-Alone holds up her end of the stare for one of the new Walker's long strides, then a second. Before the third is finished the wolf tears her own away, dropping her gaze off to the former Ronin's left. Her head tilts as she shows her lighter-colored throat to him, her tail falling below even-level with her back. Finds-Trouble relaxes faintly as she catches the feral Fianna's submission. By the waterfall, Brian's smile broadens, and he spreads his hands out at his sides. "What can I say?" he asks. "Our brew is the best, and so are our Kin. Brittany's probably still walking bow-legged." Salem stops as soon as Walks shows her throat, the rage subsiding to a low growl, mollified. He clears his throat, growls, ~Remember that,~ to her in curt tones, and then turns his back on her to return to his tribemates. By the waterfall, Heart-of-Fury chuffs out much lupine laughter and then collapses and rolls over, his legs twitching in amusement. Murphy nods at his elder's words. "As soon as I have news worthy for reporting I'll be eager to see that it is shared with all who wish to hear it." Collin glances over at Brian, then just blinks and starts laughing. "Fuck. I still can't believe I missed that party." he grins and shakes his head. Mountain's-Peak relaxes. Features shifting, into a lupine grin. Finds-Trouble trots over to Mountain's Peak, Collin, and Piotr as soon as the way if clear around the pool. Do not think I would have enjoyed it, myself. Jayson waits for JJ to finish with Seeker and Murphy, then approaches him. "I'll start looking into some of the hospital stuff, at least the 'normal' aspects of it. I'm assuming that you'll want to organize any surviellance measures personally." Walks-Far-Alone's answer to Salem is a lowering of her ears (more than JJ got, one might note). Her tribemate's laughter is ill-timed, and the young Cliath sends a glare his way. JJ Malone turns to glance at Jayson, giving him a terse nod. "I trust you. Get Nigel in on it, too, I bet he can work on the business angle. Or," with a look to the Philodox, "Jeff, too. We'll discuss it more back in town." By the waterfall, Brian runs a hand back through his hair. "Well, at least you missed me committing the world's worst party foul." Jeff gives a light nod in agreement and looks to Jayson, "Be delighted to help." By the waterfall, Heart-of-Fury recovers slightly, by rolling over to all four legs on the ground. One ear perks in interest. Spilling? Jayson nods at the Elder. "I'll orgainze things with Nigel. I also have some other tribal matters to bring up with you in the city." By the waterfall, Brian looks sheepish. "Grain asks a sacrifice," he explains. Collin eyes Brian, grinning, "Sure. Riiiight. Damn. And I missed it all 'cause I got clawed up." He hmphs. Jayson smiles at Jeff. "You're more than welcome along." Seeker glares at Collin. By the waterfall, Heart-of-Fury rolls his eyes. Great Father Stag! He eyes his packmate closely. JJ Malone turns finally back to Collin, taking a deep breath and letting it out. "You had a question," he half-states, half-asks. Alone she arrived and alone she leaves. Kasie turns and pads back to the rocky slab where she started this evening, not looking at the Walkers as she passes. Climbing the trail, she settles down upon it, unfocused eyes on the distant lip of the valley. Walks-Far-Alone heads northwest, towards the rocky slab. From the rock outcropping, Walks-Far-Alone comes towards the slab from the caern center. Collin looks innocently at Seeker, then looks back to JJ, "Oh! Yeah, I sure did. About time too. I was just wondering if anything new'd cropped up with a company called 'Hypermart'?" Finds-Trouble nudges Mountain's Peak affectionately as she comes alongside the other Fury. That ahroun is bad news. JJ Malone pulls yet another cigarette out of his pocket and lights it with the one burning down clenched in his mouth, looking at Collin with bird-sharp interest. "Never heard of it. Something I should know about?" By the waterfall, Brian shrugs his shoulders, still sheepish. "I'm better now, though," he says. Salem slips his hands back into his pockets, coming to a stop near JJ Malone, his manner rather more relaxed, as though the staredown with the lupus had eased the strain on his temper. Mountain's-Peak yawns, nudging Finds-Trouble sleeply. Curling up beside Collin and Finds-Trouble, she quickly falls asleep. By the waterfall, Heart-of-Fury's tongue lulls with amusement. I'm deeply sorry I missed it. Collin nods to JJ, "Well, okay. They're the people after the land the AppleTree Farm is on? Along with Rainbow Lake and stuff? They wanted to buy it from her, and when she refused, they made threatening comments on their way out about little accidents like outof a bad Scooby-Doo episode. I found out their name from looking at the corporate logos on their car." he grins. Finds-Trouble follows her tribemate's example, curling up next to Mountain's Peak and drifting off. Seeker looks up at Collin, then at JJ. Seeker nods. There may be something in Rainbow Lake as well. A bane, perhaps. Collin nods to Seeker, "More like one of those Fomori things, actually, right? It's a big Mutant Fish." JJ Malone gives a shallow nod, then turns to the Glass Walker theurge. "Hey, Jayson. While you're taking notes, can you make one about this Hypermart as well?" Back to Colling, without waiting for a response, he nods again, this time more real. "We'll try to see what they're about." Jayson wordlessly takes out his notebook and makes an addition to it. By the waterfall, "Yeah, well," Brian says, "you'd better not miss the next one." He wags a finger at Steven in mock remonstration for a moment, then shakes his head and gives a quiet chuckle. "Look, I'm going to get going home. I'm late for dinner as it is." By the waterfall, Heart-of-Fury wishes the Righ a good night and speed home. Collin grins at JJ, "Hey, thanks dude. Last I knew, they're sort of, like..Costco? Like to build really big stores and stuff. But I could be wrong. Thanks." He grins. By the waterfall, Brian gives his packmate a last wave, and then begins ascending the trail along the falls back up towards the south rim. He disappears in the mists above. By the waterfall, Brian starts along the trail up to the rim of the valley. By the waterfall, Heart-of-Fury gives a final look around the caern and then bounds up after the Righ. By the waterfall, Heart-of-Fury starts along the trail up to the rim of the valley. JJ Malone's mouth twitches--it might be trying to be a smile, but doesn't get that far. He turns back to his tribemates, and says in a quieter voice, "I think we've accomplished what we came here for. Let's go home." From the rock outcropping, Walks-Far-Alone shifts herself on the cool rock, settling in. Though she does not look at the group, the tilt of her ears hint that she might be listening. Jeff kicks some dirt off his shoes. JJ's words are what he's been waiting to hear for a while and he springs forward, falling in line behind the Don. Salem nods wordlessly. Jayson slips his notebook back into his pocket and starts to walk alongside JJ as they leave the wheel."Are we headed to your place or the safehouse?" "My place," the metis ahroun responds to Jayson's question, heading for the treeline on the western edge of the Caern even as he does so. Salem falls into step with Malone, following his elder out of the caern. ---- Recall end ----
