DATE: Wednesday, November 19, 1997 Place: The Caern ---- Recall start ---- From the rock outcropping, Chaser wanders into the area with a clink of metal, looking worn and hard. By the waterfall, Windsoul comes down the trail from the rim above. By the waterfall, Soren squats and drinks from his cupped hand, nodding to Falcon's Wing as he does so. By the waterfall, Falcon's Wing inclines his muzzle to Soren, looking at the new arrivals with interest. By the waterfall, Windsoul walks along the path downward into the valley, his nose to the earth as he moves towards the waterfall and the others. By the steam vents, Shakes plops down and lets out a tired sigh. From the rock outcropping, Esther sits with apparent calm, saying no more. From the rock outcropping, Seeker glances around at the incoming garou. By the waterfall, Windsoul moves towards the rocky outcropping, and Esther. From the rock outcropping, Chaser drops tiredly onto the edge of the rock, slouching. "Fuck," she mutters to no one in particular, "I need a good scrap." By the waterfall, Windsoul starts along the trail up to the rim of the valley. By the waterfall, Windsoul comes down the trail from the rim above. By the waterfall, Windsoul heads into the center. By the waterfall, Soren looks up at the outcropping as he stands, chuckling as he shakes his head. "I must be losing my hearing. Did you say you needed a good fuck, Chaser?" By the steam vents, Shakes' eye narrows as he watches Chaser. He thinks she will get one, one way or the other. At the center, Windsoul heads northwest, towards the rocky slab. From the rock outcropping, Windsoul comes towards the slab from the caern center. From the rock outcropping, Windsoul chuffs a greeting towards Esther as he moves towards her side, nodding greetings to the others, and finally, bowing his head to Seeker. Evening. From the rock outcropping, Seeker nods to his packmate. From the rock outcropping, Seeker throws back his head and howls, calling the Garou to revel. From the rock outcropping, Chaser glances in Soren's direction, and her lips curve in a smirk. "That too." From the rock outcropping, Seeker howls long and loud. From At the Rock Outcropping, Seeker can be heard to howl, ~The time for Revel has come. Garou, gather yourselves to the Hidden Walk.~ By the waterfall, Soren gives a couple nods to Chaser, full agreement, before turning toward Seeker's howl. He runs both wet hands along his dark hair, pulling it back close against his head as it becomes damp. From the rock outcropping, Windsoul sits to his haunches as he looks around to the others. His tail flicks some, and he turns his head up towards Esther, but says nothing. You head into the center and heart of the caern. Center of the Caern Contents: Reggie From the rock outcropping, Esther makes her way back around the Wheel, towards the vents to the south. By the steam vents, Esther circles the Wheel, coming in from the north. From the rock outcropping, Chaser glances sidelong to Soren and shakes her head ruefully. A faint snort, and she stands, pacing restlessly around the stone, clearly spoiling for a fight. By the steam vents, Esther heads out of the caern toward the southwest. By the waterfall, Falcon's Wing snarls unhappily and lays his head on his paws. Reggie heads southwest, into the hot steam. By the steam vents, Reggie comes into the steam from the caern center. By the steam vents, Reggie heads out of the caern toward the southwest. From the rock outcropping, Chaser glances to Falcon's Wing, and her eyes narrow a little. "Whassup?" By the waterfall, Falcon's Wing raises his head. ~I got munged by those fuckers a night or so ago. I'd love to go, they've got my damn packmate, but I'd just be a liability.~ Romper Room Contents: Shadow Eyes Piddles Soren Talks to Ghosts Windsoul Shakes Seeker Eric You have shifted to Glabro form. Seeker says "Does anyone have talens or range weapons?" Shadow Eyes does not. Talks to Ghosts has three talens left over from the Fianna raid on teh cave a few nights back. Shakes looks to Piddles, then cocks his head. Windsoul nods his head as Seeker asks the question. This one does, Rhya...you might consider it ranged. It can be thrown while in war form. Chaser has arrived. Soren gives a nod to Seeker. "I do. A weapon that binds but does not kill." Seeker nods at Talks to Ghosts. "What nature are the talens?" Talks to Ghosts has two of fire and one of earth. The Earth binds the fire burns. Piddles clears his throat. ~I have a talen, a dagger that has a fire spirit bound to it. My chiminage. I need to find someone to use it best, and this seems as good a time as any.~ Falcon's Wing has arrived. Seeker nods. "Fire will be useful." Piddles contorts and blurs as he is transformed. I dunno howta use-a knife, 'cept fer cuttin' cheeeese." Tsah moves into the Glabro form before reaching into his jacket and retrieving a large, twin bladed weapon, which he holds in his right hand close to his side. Shakes snorts at his packmate. He's good with a blade, but doesn't think it'd be right to give it to him. Find someone outside of Cavall, he thinks. Chaser scoffs quietly. "Boys and their toys," she mutters darkly. "All I need's what the good mother gave me." Seeker looks around at the garou. "We go tonight to battle the weaver-humans and pattern spiders north of the caern, in a nest they have made. The weaver humans have a high level of technology, with powerful energy weapons. Some can fly, some have poison-darts that immobilize the target. Some of you have fought them and know their capabilities. The humans are the most dangerous, their weapons are capable of killing, but they are weak and easily defeated if at close range. The pattern spiders are normal, they seem to try to immobilize any intruders." Andrea has arrived. Soren glances over at Chaser, shaking his head. "As if she didn't give the talens as well," he says low, audible though spoken largely to himself and his pack alpha beside him. Chaser flashes a feral smile. "She didn't give me any. And I ain't no Theurge to make 'em. So I fight with what I got." Seeker says "The plan is this: JJ Malone will attempt to disrupt their technology with a gift. Any others with similar gifts should use them, but only if the first gift does not work. Some gifts have been seen to have no effect on them, such as concealment gifts of the ragabash. When the technology is disrupted, the humans should be easy prey. If the gifts do not work, range weapons are most effective against the flying ones. Bring them down and deal with them on the ground. Use the fire talens and other fire to burn the webs. Use teeth and claws on the pattern spiders. Theurges, try to control pattern spiders or other enemy spirits." Falcon's Wing paces nervously, near Elan. I can use a knife, but I have the feeling it would be forgotten in the heat of things. Andrea gives her ex-packmate an amused look. "Not all theurges have time, anyway." Shadow Eyes nuzzles Falcon's Wing. We will try. Soren half-snorts as he looks away from Seeker. "Not all crescents have the skill." Shadow Eyes wags his tail at Seeker. And not all of us know how to control such things. Seeker looks at the group. "Are any others gifted with disrupting technology?" Shades looks around with a curious interest as well. Seeker nods to Soren and Shadow Eyes. "Those who can, do." Piddles offers the knife to Falcon's Wing anyway. "Jus' in case?" Falcon's Wing regards it curiously, sniffling it. What does it do? Shakes growls quietly, looking around for any of the members of Edge. Finding none, he sighs and moves in close to his packmates. Piddles regards the copper blade. "Izza fire spirit inna blade. Bites three times." Seeker says "Other theurges may want to summon Wyld spirits, either to fight the enemy or lure them away, into ambush. After the battle, wyld spirits in the area will be strengthened to ensure that this encroachment does not happen again." Falcon's Wing shifts to glabro, and takes it willingly. ~Thanks.~ Shadow Eyes flicks his ears and shares Shakes dismay. I had hoped Ragedancer would join us. Piddles nods, grins toothily, and steps back to his pack. Chaser rakes both hands through her hair, rolls her shoulders, and shifts up into the warform with a low growl. She starts sharpening her claws on the edge of the stone dais. Shakes nods at Elan. Ragedancer is a good fighter, Shakes thinks. Crazy bitch. Soren glances over to Andrea, studying her face for a moment. Andrea looks at Seeker, then says directly, "If you want spirits summoned, you better plan on it before battle is joined. I wouldn't advise it, anyway. Wyld spirits make uncertain allies at best." Seeker says "Some of our septmates have been taken by these creatures and may be among their number. If you see them, disable them if you can, and try to keep them out of the fight." Piddles flexes mightily, taking a deep breath, and shifts up to war form. He then crouches next to his packmates. Piddles shifts into Crinos form. Chaser shifts into Crinos form. Seeker nods to Andrea. "When the battle is over, then, to cleanse the Weaver's influence. Does anyone else have anything to add?" Shadow Eyes keeps his fourfooted form for now, the better to make use of Dog's gifts. He looks to Andrea. Summon anything now? And what? Tsah stretches a bit, the weapon being held firmly in his right hand glints a bit in the dim light of the moon. Silver. Talks to Ghosts thinks we should avoid moving in large groups. Some of their weapons make rather large booms. They are also very bright, some have been blinded if their senses were enhanced by gifts. Derrick says, ~Specifically, Ever Grinning, and Deep Fires.~ Seeker nods. "Avoid using concealment talens or gifts. They have proven ineffectual. Conserve your gnosis." Chaser glances to Andrea, and narrows her eyes slightly. She closes the distance to the Theurge, moving restlessly. Seeker says "If anyone has information about our enemy that I have not heard, please let me know now." Chaser drops to one knee at Andrea's shoulder, rumbling something to her quietly. ~If you need a right hand, call.~ Andrea shakes her head. "Summon nothing. The half-moon gift of calling all aid is useful in desperation, but I will ask no spirits to fight our battle on the night of our Revel. We were created for fighting for them, and they gift us with strengths in return. And Wyld spirits will not cleanse Weaver taint, that I am aware of. If it's needed, we will try to modify the Cleansing right, as we did for One Feather and Cyllan long ago." She smiles at at Chaser's statement and lines herself between Soren and the ragabash, for once standing solely with the Get. Soren swings a triple-stone bola at his side, his satchel... no where to be seen. "Let's get this done." Shakes snorts, knowing that he is most certainly going to die tonight. All the things he is best at are the things that do not work against this enemy. Chaser straightens, squaring massive shoulders with a snarl of agreement. Shadow Eyes will not let you die, Shakes. He stands firm in this. Seeker nods to Andrea. "Agreed. Once again, JJ Malone's gift first, then deal with humans first, then pattern spiders. Use fire talens and fire on the webs. If gifts fail, back them up with other technology-disrupting gifts if you can. If not, use range weapons on flying enemies. Theurges try to control pattern spiders and weaver spirits. Beware of ambush and unseen targets. Seeker says, ~Travel to the nest in lupus.~ Shadow Eyes changes, and pads beside his alpha. Piddles changes to match strides with his pack. Seeker nods. ~Run with me, Garou of the Hidden Walk.~ Andrea shifts into Hispo form. Soren shifts into Lupus form. Shades snarls rebelliously at Seeker's order, her shift down to the wolf form coming slowly perhaps because of it. In lupus, she shifts continuously on her paws uneasily, as if she can't get comfortable in her own skin. Piddles shifts into Lupus form. Shakes shifts down slightly as well, to a form he's very much accustomed to by now. Seeker lopes along northwards, slightly ahead of the rest. ~Spread out, avoid tight groups,~ he growls, ~Wait for my signal to attack.~ Falcon's Wing, accordinly, spreads, looking warily for random Borg with guns on the way. Piddles takes point for the foursome of Cavall. Jaws begins to gravitate towards the Bone Gnawers in her run, while keeping a proper distance away, following Seeker's orders to the letter if with a surly attitude. The run is a relatively short one, going a little past the small grotto that the Fianna have claimed for themseves. From there, Seeker leads the group roughly northwest for about a half-mile or more. The area here is dead: the spirits that are capable of doing so have fled, the remainder are dead or bound into the Pattern Web. Strands hang from the trees, binding them tightly to the ground. It's a gruesome picture, like a twisted version a white Christmas. Several football fields' worth of land is dead and white. Midnight lets himself drift forward and to the left of Quiet, opposite side from Chaser. His one-eyed attention is wary, ranging from the near- to the middle- to the far-distance and back again. Midnight chuffs toward Andrea. This is the place this one has seen in the Sight. Seeker motions for Jaws to come to him as they approach the nest. Chaser stays fairly close to Quiet, just near enough to join forces at need. A low growl comes from her throat at the sight of the trees, growing to a full-fledged snarl of fury. Shadow Eyes keeps an eye on White-Eye most of all, trotting quietly and quickly. Quiet looks around her and says with a dry humor that overlays her gathering rage: ~Then I am glad once again that my inner eyes rarely open.~ White-Eye trots alongside his pack, near enough to come readily to aid, while hopefully spreading out the target... Shakes keeps quiet and moves on, holding his position in the loose formation the Garou hold. Falcon's Wing, who's seen this before, simply bares his teeth and looks to Seeker. Seeker motions to the other garou to fan out around the perimeter. Jaws flicks her ears forward, then shifts with relief up to glabro as the apparent site of the battle is reached, coming up to join Seeker where he's indicated in silence. Talks to Ghosts growls quietly. It has grown. He swings out with the expanding arc of garou. Seeker scans the area for a moment, peering into the webs for signs of humans or pattern spiders. Shadow Eyes looks about, ears rotating. Piddles paces out ahead of the other Gnawers, keeping them in his peripheral awareness but hopefully staying apart enough. Seeker looks into the sky, searching for humans there, and behind the group. After a moment, he nods to Jaws to use her gift. Seeker chuffs. Target the center of the webs. Talks to Ghosts shifts up to crinos and readies himself for a response from the webs. Shadow Eyes sparkles and blurs, shifting into Hispo form. Piddles shifts into Crinos form. Falcon's Wing shifts into crinos, gripping his knife intently. Shakes shifts into Hispo form. Shades's brow furrows in concentration and her jaw sets as she stares with mirrorshaded gaze out over the field of sticky white. No humans or spiders are immediately visible. Neither are any other spirits. The area is a wasteland, with even the spirit trees mostly dead. There aren't any of the typical sounds one normally associates with forests; in fact, the Garou seem to be making the only sound at all. The Glass Walker unleashes her Gift, but nothing seems to happen. White-Eye shifts into Hispo form. Midnight shifts into Glabro form. Talks to Ghosts looks over at Seeker, hefting one of his talens lightilt in one hand. ~You want them to come out?~ Shadow Eyes whines a bit at the desolation, and narrows his eyes. Seeker shifts to crinos, his klaive materializing in his hand. He stares into the webs intently, waiting for the gift to take effect. He nods to Talks-to-Ghosts. ~Throw into the center, drive them out.~ Talks to Ghosts nods and activates the talena moment before he hurls it up and towards the center of the webbed area. Piddles turns his attention in all directions, not simply to the center. Shakes' attention is mostly upward, actually, but he glances about in other directions as well. Shadow Eyes senses no Wyrm...but that is to be expected? This has a much more spectacular effect. The webbing around where the talen lands goes up quickly, and soon the fire is spreading across the dry webs and down the trees. Pattern Spiders appear from the treetops and angle for the Garou. Shades pulls out a gun from within her jacket as she watches the spiders swarm out. Like Shakes, she is looking up at the sky primarily from the reported flying attackers. Seeker spins and howls, ~Spiders in the trees! Attack!~ Piddles looses a howl of challenge and springs for the closest spider, claws and fangs bared. Shadow Eyes bares fangs and sees of the spiders are coming from the sides as well. He moves up to the Crinos, so as to have hands to tear and rend webs just in case. White-Eye shifts into Crinos form. Talks to Ghosts moves forward to meet the charging spiders with tooth and claw. Shakes doesn't shift out of Hispo, using that form's advantages for leaping. He charges, fangs bared and claws extended. Falcon's Wing snarls and jumps for a spider, knife not, in fact, forgotten. Yet. White-Eye shifts upwards, and runs forward, angling to the side just a bit, trying to flank one of the spiders. He leaps, claws out to slash. Finally given a target, Chaser simply charges--attacking the nearest pattern creature with claws outstretched, far from selective now that there's actually a fight. Quiet fixes the spider closest to her in a level gaze, her tail raising dominantly and her ruff flaring. Her voice lashes out with command. ~Attack the pattern spider closest to you.~ Soren remains at the edges of the fight, holding in reserve for the inevitable more challenging attack from the air. Seeker stays where he is for the moment, attacking spiders if they get close enough with his klaive, but he is still waiting for the humans to show themselves. He peers into the burning webs and scans the sky and outer forest. No humans present themselves as the battle is joined. The Garou outnumber the spiders and quickly begin tearing at the spirits. The Pattern Spiders fight back in their usual method: attempting to bind the Garou to the Pattern Web. All except one, who turns on one of its fellows. Talks to Ghosts tries to keep moving, switching his attacks from spider to spider in an effort to reduce the time they have to fix him in their webs. Shadow Eyes slashes at his spider, attempting to pin /it/ and rip its legs off, or tear out the part that makes webs. Falcon's Wing snarls, and slashes with his knife at the nearest spider's spinnerettes, invoking its fire as he does so. Piddles rips at spiders as they come, trying not to make a stationary target of himself as he does so. Shades, like Soren, is hanging back out of the fight, a gun out in her left hand while she continues to look for the aforementioned, not present humans. She nears the webbing, though, without going into it, and crouches down to suddenly concentrate, with one hand almost touching it. White-Eye is concentrating his slashes on his spider's abdomen and at where he thinks the thing's eyes are, sparing every third slash or so to rip at the thing's efforts to bind him. Shakes pulls away, after his inital charge, trying to make his blows count rather than simply getting as many in as possible. When he nears one, he works a game of random dodging motions, trying to confuse the "logical" thinking of the spider. He then leaps, going for the thing, snapping his jaws towards its face rather than the more logical attack to the leg. This doesn't pay off for the Gnawer, as he finds himself partially bound by the spider things. Seeker races over towards Shakes and slashes at the spider binding him with his kopsh. Soren growls his frustration at the attempted web-binding. The attack triggers Midnight's tendency to self-preservation and he shifts into the larger war-form, flexing his limbs to break the patterned bonds. Close by, Quiet changes her gaze, teeth opening in a snarl as her voice lashes again at the spider binding her packmate. ~Go attack your fellow pattern spiders.~ Chaser, occupied with her claimed opponent, uses her claws to good advantage, slashing at the vulnerable organs the spider is using to spin the webs. Shakes growls as he realizes he's been ensnared and shifts up to the War Form, hoping to break free through use of his claws. Shakes shifts into Crinos form. Piddles scythes at the spiders entrapping Shakes. Soren shifts into Crinos form. White-Eye growls a curse as he's snared, and shifts down, trying to quickly wiggle free in his smaller size before the thing can adjust to the change. White-Eye shifts into Lupus form. Shadow Eyes growls at the entrappment as well, and plumbs the depths of his Rage to fight the thing with faster attacks. He tries to stab down at it with his claws, using his size and weight advantage to peg the spider and punch holes through it. Shakes' Pattern Spider has the worst of it, as two other people converge on it and attack. The spider continues attempting to bind the Gnawer, but the Ragabash is breaking the webs as quickly as they are laid down. Under the dual attacks, the thing begins to fade and grow transluscent. The spider that was attacking Soren turns and heads after the one currently binding White-Eye, and the two Garou manage to free themselves as well. Chaser slashes at the one attacking Mark, who in turn is working on his own freedom. Derrick struggles against his bonds, but without the help of others, he's fighting a losing battle one-on-one against the spider. Shadow Eyes, through the use of his Rage, has better luck: he manages to pin the spider down and rack down its back with his free hand, but the the spirit continues to determinedly spin his web. As the fire in the center begins to spread outward, a second, smaller fire goes up much nearer the Garou. Shades steps back quickly, a look of grim satisfaction on her face. Shakes flashes a quick grin in thanks to his rescuers, then starts heading towards Elan. ~Hold on, packie,~ he growls. He also mumbles something about never reading Spider Man comics again, only audible to those nearby him. Seeker disengages from the spider attacking Shakes and races towards Derrick. He glances up at the sky now and again, as if waiting for an attack from above. When he reaches derrick, he hacks at the spider with his kopsh, across its midsection. Talks to Ghosts tries slashing at the spider where it spins, figuring if he shuts that down, the thing won't be able to trap him. White-Eye moves towards Derrick along with Soren, apparently having the same idea, snapping at the thing's legs. Falcon's Wing snarls, slashing at the spider again. Shadow Eyes growls as he is now almost entirely bound by the spider. ~I bet you're some kinda /smart/ bug ain't yah...~ His attempt at humor is a bit strained, though, by the rising tide of webs. Still he hacks and hacks at the spider, trying to pull it's body apart. Piddles spins, assesses the situation with narrowed eyes and pounces toward Elan's spider. Midnight, now freed from bondage, starts to launch himself tooth and claw at the aforementioned offensive spider, but re-orients quickly enough to launch himself full bore at the spider wrapping Derrick. His claws join Seeker's in violent rending. In pack tandem, Quiet turns with Soren and strikes the spider's other side. The protective shadow around the two children of Uktena ripples with their quick movements. Chaser leaves them to their work, but doesn't go too far--she launches herself toward Falcon's Wing and his adversary. Her claws rip the confining webs away first, then slash at the spider's vulnerable underbelly. Elan's spider gets the brunt of the attacks this time and quickly disintegrates beneath the claws of three Garou. Derrick's attack seems to have more effect this time; he brings his blade down on the pattern spider that's quickly finishing the job. The blade glow reds for an instant and a foot-long tonue of flame bursts from it, blackening the spirit's legs and back. Soren arrives to finish the mostly-dead spider off, but not before Falcon's Wing is locked into the Pattern. Piddles stays behind to finish off the spider that had nearly gotten Shakes and it joins its brothers, as Chaser works to free the newly-bound Derrick. The last spider is finished off by Talks-To-Ghosts himself, and the Garou find themselves suddenly without targets. The remaining four spiders are quickly working at binding each other, oblivious to the conflict around them. Shades growls softly, then levels her gun at the spiders killing each other, and fires off two quick shots towards them. Falcon's Wing scrambles away from the webbing, now that Chaser's freed him, and growls, ~Don't DO that.~ at the spiders busily engaged in selt mutilation. He looks around for more things to fight, hopefully. Talks to Ghosts move over to try and help break Falcon's Wing free. Shakes nudges Elan, then jerks a thumb Shades-wards. ~She knows what to do.~ Piddles looks around quickly. Up, sideways, down, around, ears straining, nose snuffling the air, seeking new targets. Shadow Eyes carefully picks webbing from his fur and looks around, lips pulled back from dagger-like teeth, ears swivelling, listening for new foes. He glances back to the center of the devestated area. ~Go, Shades.~ Shakes' eye narrows as he surveys the area, not wanting to get so caught up in the moment that he's an easy target for ambush. ~Stay alert,~ he says to his packmates. White-Eye rejoins his packmates, and nods to Shakes. Shadow Eyes growls ~Stay Alive~ to his alpha. Seeker moves back from the spiders to assess the situation. ~Falcon's Wing, come with me, bring the knife. Everyone else, spread out, watch for the humans. Watch the skies. Howl if you see anything. Shades, if you see weaver-humans, try your gift again, otherwise, shoot them. Use range weapons on flying targets.~ He moves toward the nest of webbing and begins to hack his way through it like a jungle, avoiding the burning parts. Piddles wuffs to Shakes. Two of the spiders quickly manage to bind their opponent, one with the aid of Shades' well-timed shots. The last two spiders, their orders fullfilled, turn back to the Garou with single-minded persistence. Shadow Eyes growls. ~Shit. Incoming. Two more.~ Shades pops off another two caps at the approaching spiders before they get too close. Falcon's Wing, obediently, moves to Seeker, saying, ~The knife, right?~ He looks for a suffiently large tangle of webs, and sticks his knife into it, closing his eyes and willing it to fire. Talks to Ghosts moves to intercept one of the spiders. One of the spiders drops in its tracks, slowly fading back into nothingness. The other presses onward, obviously on its last legs. Talks-To-Ghosts intercepts it first and finishes it off with a sharp blow across the head. Around the Garou, the fire is spreading. Seeker howls out from inside the webs, ~See to the trees! don't let the fire spread to the live ones!~ Shadow Eyes looks to the white-area, seeing how much of the place is involved in flame...and if anything seems to be moving in it. He glances all around - even up - then back to his packmates. Talks to Ghosts considers things for a moment and then heads to the edge of the webs and starts working at clearing a fire break along the edge of the webs,. The dry webbing - the stuff closest to the center - catches like kindling and is quickly spreading. The fresher webs, however, are more resistent to the fire and it's creeping along much more slowly. There doesn't seem to be anything in the clearing now except for the Garou. Seeker emerges from the mass of webbing ~No humans there. Stay alert. Tend to the fire.~ He takes his own orders, doing what he can to slow the fire. He slashes webs near the trees and makes a clearing away from them. Falcon's Wing coughs, and mutters, ~Water talen. Got one.~ He looks warily at the trees, cocks his talen, and throws it where he thinks it'll do most good. White-Eye moves towards the nearest trees to him that still seem to have some life left in them, and starts to slash the webbing from them, pulling it away to clear a firebreak. White-Eye shifts into Crinos form. Shakes follows the example and starts helping to make a fire break as well. Still, he keeps his eye open and stays alert for any sign of ambush. Piddles stays stiffly alert, watching over his two firefighting packmates. Shadow Eyes works with White-Eye to clear a line of dead space where the fire cannot move. He croons to the fire spirits in their speech, trying to tell them to burn /inside/ the area. *Burn the weaver things*. Chaser heads for one of the less-bound trees, and rips at the webbing to free it. Burn the weaver things is exactly what the fire does. The Garou work frantically to tear down some of the webs, creating a null space between the dead drees that were covered in webs and the living ones just outside the bound square. All except Shades, anyway, who kneels down near the disappearing body of one of the dead Spiders and closes her eyes. Her arms actually sink to the wrists into its body, and a faint aura, almost like smoke, drifts from the corpse to the Glass Walker. The water talen tossed by Falcon's Wing manages to put out a good bit of the fire on its own. Soon, the Garou have cleared enough of an area that the fire can safely burn itself out without harming the surrounding trees. Soren and Quiet work with the newly-webbed trees to control the fire, letting it burn inside the limits of the Blight, but curtailing its spread. Shadow Eyes twitches his ears now that his work is done. Listening. Falcon's Wing growls slightly, and then shuts up, ears twitching hopefully. Seeker surveys the damage to the area, still somewhat on edge, as if expecting an imminent attack. ~The humans must have all retreated to their cave before this, there are none here. Quiet, can you begin your Cleansing?~ Shadow Eyes whines. ~I smell nothing human there. At least, over the heat and burnt webbing.~ Seeker nods to Shadow Eyes. Falcon's Wing kicks a chunk of wood restlessly. Chaser snarls softly, pacing, staying close to Quiet. Talks to Ghosts watches the fires consume the webbing. Quiet stands to the fore, as the other theurges stand to her side and slightly behind. She begins to intone the opening song of the cleansing ritual and the others takes up the notes. White-Eye moves to one side, mirroring Shadow Eyes, as Midnight strikes up a counter-note. The howling becomes discordant, breaking the Weaver strands that bind the place spiritually, and they begin to fall away. More and more notes from this song of the Gaian sound, and the whole mass of dead webbing begins to shift and disappear, blown away by the song. Quiet's song is the sonorous song of the wind itself. Shadow Eyes cuts himself, dropping blood on the forest floor while White-Eye takes up earth and scatters it anew. Midnight dances, his chaotic, organic rhythms representing the cleansing fire that has begun the work tonight. Seeker paces around the perimeter of the rite, drawing his kopsh across his chest as he does so. Blood drips to the earth, giving strength to the rite. As the Garou howl their song, the wind rises up. The last flaming bits of web are lifted up by it and carried off, still glowing. The Rite takes a considerable time; the Gauntlet here was stronger than in some areas of the city. Eventually, however, the exhausted Garou manage to remove the rest of the Weaver influence in the area. What's left is over an acre of burned-out, dead land. Chaser lopes southward as soon as possible, without explaining her hurry. Quiet stays with Midnight for a time, regathering her strength. As the Garou begin to disperse, the two theurges take themselves off for home. ---- Recall end ----
